US-based scholar Prof Makau Mutua has dismissed former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale as a certified hooligan following bizarre incidents in Kibra.
Political violence was witnessed in Kibra on Thursday during by-election, with sections of leaders accusing Orange Democratic Movement party of instigating chaos.
And Prof Mutua believes Dr Khalwale, also a former Ikolomani MP, spoilt his reputation following the decision to engage hooligans in running battles.
"We shall forever remember @KBonimtetezi as a hooligan. The worst of the worst," he said in reference to Khalwale's viral photo.
Dr Khalwale was one of the agents of Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga, who came second in the polls that were won by Imran Okoth of ODM.
In his previous tweet, Khalwale accused the ODM party of unleashing goons in Kibra, arguing that many people failed to turnout for voting.
“Congratulations Mariga for this result. Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula spoilt ua 5,275 and 260 votes respectively through their candidates. Thousands of ua would be female voters were scared off by those ODM party goons. U are the winner!” he said on Twitter on Friday.
Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati has a been linked to the violence that saw even a number of Jubilee MPs flushed from the cosmopolitan constituency.
But in a rejoinder, Arati has refuted the claims, insisting that he helped Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa from bring roughed up by angry youths on Thursday.
