Governor John Nyagarama insists that time has come for the country to recognize efforts of Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i be rewarding him with top seat.
The interior CS has been traversing Gusii region in a calculated move to bring the community together ahead of 2022 polls in which he's likely to play a key role.
Dr Matiang'i has been using his position as National Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee chair to push President Uhuru Kenyatta's agenda.
At Nyaikuro on Monday, Governor Nyagarama said Abagusii community will stand with Dr Matiang'i at all the time to ensure tries his luck in presidency.
The second term county boss said opposing legislators from the region should try their luck in supporting Matiang'i, arguing that he's at pole position to take over.
"We have enough numbers that can allow us to negotiate. As a community, let's support the minister because he has proved his worthness," he said.
"Those opposing him should go slow. It's pointless to keep pulling one of us back. Time has come for us to support him. Let's die with him," said the county boss.
Also supporting Matiang'i for top seat are several MCAs, Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi, Senator Okong'o Mogeni and Kisii Governor James Ongwae.
