Speaking after the raid, the police cautioned the public against purchasing and handling stolen items, adding that it is an offence punishable by law.

Following the raid, the police have urged any city resident who was robbed of his phone, tablet, or laptop to visit Central Police Station with appropriate identification documents, and receipts that can help identify whether the items belong to them.

Confirming the arrests, the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti said some of the arrested suspects are facing murder and robbery charges.

He urged members of the public to be careful not to purchase phones from suspicious outlets, since some of the vendors may have been involved in criminal activities.

"Some are facing murder and robbery charges," said Kinoti as quoted by Standard

“It is risky and dangerous to buy any electronic device from suspicious outlets. Most are those who buy stolen items from armed gangsters who have violently robbed innocent citizens and in the process kill and maim them,” said Kinoti as quoted by Standard.

The suspects are being held pending arraignment in court tomorrow.
