A section of the Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) came to the defence of Jowie on the ground of a suspect being innocent until proven guilty. The netizens argued that the prosecution was yet to prove that Jowie was guilty of the charges levelled against him.

In his bail application, Jowie told the court that he was suffering and also requested for the time that he had already spent in prison to be factored in. A number of the netizens sympathized with him citing that he was still a human being and therefore should be treated justly.

Those who were in defence of Jowie further pointed out that suspects in other almost similar cases had been granted bail.

They gave examples Sarah Wairimu who is a suspect in the murder of her husband Tob Cohen and Migori Governor Okoth Obado who was charged with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

The cyber-citizens also raised questions on why Jowie's co-accused Jacque Maribe was granted bail yet he was denied.

A group of the KOT, however, supported the rejection of the bail application. They claimed that all the evidence provided so far indicated that Jowie might have had a hand in the murder of the late Monica. Some of them added that Jowie could interfere with the evidence if released and therefore interfere with the investigation.

The murder case of Monica Kimani is still going on. So far two witnesses including Monica Kimani's friend Lee Omondi and her brother George Kimani have given their testimonies.
