Law Society of Kenya Vice President Harriet Chiggai has defended President Uhuru Kenyatta for sacking Mwangi Kiunjuri who Cabinet Secretary.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday, Chiggai said that the embattled former CS gave Uhuru enough reasons to show him the door.
She argued that Kiunjuri failed to deliver on his duties and instead concentrated on side shows.
"Mwangi Kiunjuri dared the President, his firing is not a surprise. The Presidency as an office has to be respected. For women, the reshuffling shows that we are on the right track towards more women representation in Cabinet," she said.
Former Mzalendo Director Caroline Gaita also defended the President for cracking the whip on Kiunjuri saying he was not a performer. She argued that the ex-CS wanted to mix politics with work and the President was not impressed at all.
"If Mwangi Kiunjuri was addressing agricultural issues & then having a political problem, we would be having a different conversation, but, he was not delivering & was not aligned to his boss’s vision," she alluded.
While accepting his fate, Kiunjuri said that he was happy that the president had relieved him of the duties he had given him. He noted that he had been tormented since he entered into the docket, adding that another door lies ahead of him.Kiunjuri's actions dared Uhuru to fire him, LSK Vice President saysKiunjuri's actions dared Uhuru to fire him, LSK Vice President says
