Ruto, who is eyeing the presidency in the 2022 general elections has showcased himself as a generous man, who is always around to help when called upon to.

But Wamwere on Saturday revealed that the same has not always been the case, claiming that the DP at some point refused to help a needy former politician, who later died.

He said that on an unmentioned date, Ruto mocked former Eldoret North MP Chelangat Mutai who had requested him for a job, at a time when she was very sick.

According to the former Subukia MP, Ruto mockingly asked what Mutai wanted a job for, which Koigi termed a mockery to Mutai since she appeared sickly and had been condemned to a wheelchair after an accident.

"Kuna kiongozi fulani anatafuta urais Chelangat Mutai alimuomba apewe kazi, huyo bwana akauliza huyu Chelangat Mutai anataka kazi afanyie nini. Hata hakuna haja ya kuficha, ni huyu Ruto," he said.

This loosely translates to: A certain leader seeking the presidency was requested for a job by Chelangat Mutai but asked what she wanted a job for. Actually, there is no need to hide it, it is Ruto."

He made the remarks on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show on Saturday evening, hosted by Kipkemboi Chombo.

Wamwere lauded the late Mutai as a person who devoted her efforts to fighting for the well being of the people of Nandi, especially with regards to land injustices.

After her involvement in a road accident in 2006, Mutai remained disabled until her death in 2013, a situation that saw her reduced to poverty, at some point having to share a single room with a friend in Nairobi.

Ruto was also Eldoret North MP before his elevation to the Deputy President slot in 2013.
