President John Magufuli last week officially relocated to administrative capital in Dodoma, many years after the proposal by founding President Julius Nyerere.

For decades all presidents in Tanzania have used Dar es Salaam for official transaction of business despite the fact that it's not centrally located.

And Magufuli now becomes the first of Tanzania's five presidents to officially move to centrally placed Dodoma, which hosts Parliament and even some goverment ministries.

“I was in Katavi Region, but I decided to come to my home city, Dodoma, to register my name because this is now my official address. I’ve come with my wife to get registered,” he told journalists.

Despite the turn out of events, Dar es Salaam will still remain commercial capital of Tanzania given that it's at the Indian Ocean coast.

Former President Julius Nyerere had in 1973 brought the idea of using Dodoma as capital, arguing that it's at a central location in Tanzania.

On Sunday, Magufuli dismissed claims that he's ailing following reports on social media that he's struggling with his health.

"I am okay. I don't know what people are talking about. I am happy to receive you around," said Magufuli when he hosted a delegation of local officials.
