Renowned academic and political analyst Professor Edward Kisiang'ani has weighed in on the narrative that has long been peddled that Deputy President Dr William Ruto benefitted from the Kimwarer and Arror funds said to have been embezzled.

Speaking on Sunday during a wide-ranging panel discussion aired on the 'Pointblank' program, Kisiang'ani poked holes into the narrative.

He said that it would be difficult for the country's second in command to steal the money as it is disbursed by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and with the knowledge of the head of state.

The Kenyatta University don questioned the intelligence of those falling for that narrative, describing the narrative as infantile talk.

"There are people who tell us that Ruto is a thief, how did he steal money for Kimwarer? This money comes from the Central Bank and the Treasury. What is the procedure? Can you steal money without the president knowing? It is something that people are not ready to absorb that infantile talk, " Prof Kisiangani said. (12:05-12:25)

The deputy president has been accused of being the architect of the Kimwarer and Arror scandal by his political detractors, who are, by and large, allies of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.

An investigation found that the billions of shillings that were sunk into the dam project was misused, leading to the arrest and arraignment in court of former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich.
