Trouble began when Okoth's widow, Monica Okoth and her team visited the premises to collect the body last night, in a bid to beat alleged plans to block the cremation planned for Saturday morning.

This followed intelligence that Okoth's constituents from Kibra were planning to barricade roads and seize the body in opposition to the cremation plans.

However, the facility refused to release the body at 10 pm as was being demanded by Monicah and her team, on grounds that it doesn't release bodies at night.

“Lee management, on the other hand, insisted it was against its policies to release a body deep in the night. As a result, a stand-off ensued. Monica’s team was told that the body could only be released on Saturday," an attendant said.

The body was later released at 3 am and handed over to the family.

It arrived at the Kariokor crematorium at 7 am. Details of where it was kept between 3 am and 7 am remains unknown even to Okoth's mother, Anjelina Ajwang.

The cremation was complete by 12 pm, after which the ashes were put in an urn and returned to the morgue.
