The African Development Bank (AfDB) on Monday pledged to support Kenyan women in their quest to make life better.
The bank's deputy director-general Nnenna Nwabufo, who made the affirmation during a meeting with First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, said that women are the center of the family.
She assured the first lady that the bank is ready to initiate a series of projects across the nation in support of women from different walks of life. She said that the institution is exploring different avenues to enable it directly support women and girls.
She highlighted capacity building activities in the nation, adding that the financial institution has good plans for the women in this nation. She was speaking on the sidelines of the Global Gender Summit in Kigali, Rwanda.
“We could do this through capacity building to enable women (Kenyan) to benefit from development projects implemented by the government in partnership with African Development Bank,” Nwabufo said.
Margaret Kenyatta welcomed the decision of the bank to support women and girls in different areas of their specialization. She said that the national government is ready to work with the bank to ensure women are empowered as they work towards fulfilling the desires of their hearts in different areas of life.
