Austine Omondi Arunga can now breathe a sigh of relief after Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga came to his rescue by taking him to school.
The boy who hails from Malongo village, Suba South constituency, had scored 407 marks but grinding poverty threatened to deny him a chance to join Kanga High School for his secondary education.
Worse still, the boy had repeated class 8 after scoring 357 marks during the 2018 KCPE examination, yet he had secured a chance to join Homa Bay High School.
The young man's situation caught the attention of Gladys Wanga who facilitated him to join Kanga High School.
"I'm glad my office got this information, we picked Austine from home, did his shopping and dropped him at Kanga this evening and will give full NGAAF scholarship for the next four years. Wishing him the very best in his studies," Wanga posted on her Facebook page.
The intervention by the lawmaker is one of the many such incidents witnessed this week with Milele FM host Jalang'o recently coming to the rescue of another boy who joined form one with an empty box.
He promised to cater for his high school fees until he clears form four.
