President Uhuru Kenyatta has echoed his government's commitment to developing the country on matters infrastructural progress.

Speaking on Thursday, Uhuru said that his government has a number of ongoing such projects across the country, which are aimed at bettering the lives of Kenyans.

He noted that under his government, "every county in Kenya has at least one major infrastructure project designed to directly benefit mwananchi."

Uhuru spoke when he led the country in celebrating the 53rd Jamhuri Day celebrations at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.

He added that his leadership had also taken proper measures to better the lives of vulnerable members of the country.

To realize this, he said that his government continues to allocate funds channelled to elderly citizens and orphans in monthly stipend.

"We are a government that cares for its people, especially our senior people of the age of 70, and also our orphans and Persons Living with severe disabilities, who now receive a monthly stipend so that they may continue to lead a life of dignity," he added.

This is as Uhuru approaches the end of his presidential tenure, being on his second and last term in office.
