Uasin Gishu is keen to defend its title in the 93rd edition of national music and cultural festivals take off in Siaya.

The teams selected gave an electrifying performance on Wednesday setting the stage well as the audience lauded their performance.

Uasin Gishu county has been in second position four times in a row and is determined to move to the first position.

Sisto Cultural group, Kalya traditional dancers, Uasin Gishu staff choir and Education for life produced a thrilling performance boosting the chances of Uasin Gishu in clinching the title.

Sisto Cultural group, in particular, was showered with praises by the judges and also the audience.

Mohammed Dakane who is the chief of the Mission is optimistic having led the teams in polishing the areas they didn't perform well during the last competition.

"I have faith in these groups since they have corrected the small mistakes which costed us during the 92nd edition of the competition," Said Dakane.

Uasin Gishu staff choir while presenting their choral song left nothing for chances as they presented the artistry of Nandi's culture accompanied by musical tunes of the choral song.

The theme of the festival is peace and reconciliation towards realizing sustainable development.

Other groups representing the county are; Moi University, Kisii University, and st Mathew Church choir.
