The president of Kenyatta University Students Association (KUSA) Joshua Ayika now claims the disruption of a press conference by Members of Parliament Mohamed Ali (Nyali) and Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) was stage-managed.
Ayika, without providing proof, accused the two legislators of hiring goons to muddle with the event, so as to win sympathy ahead of Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rally on Saturday.
He argued that if the incident was not pre-planned, security officers attached to the duo should have intervened and tried to contain the rowdy youths.
The vocal student leader further accused Citizen TV of assisting the MPs in executing their plot by broadcasting the incident.
"The two fellas that's Aisha Jumwa and Moha should not take Kenyans for a ride just to seek sympathy from their electorates by stage-managing a bunch of goons to disrupt their presser, that's madness of the highest order," he said
"This also goes to Citizen TV for being accomplices. Since when does a Member of Parliament move around with no security personnel?" Ayika posed.
Both Ali and Jumwa have condemned the incident and pointed an accusing finger at their political opponents for allegedly hiring the goons.
"BBI is about inclusivity! What happened at Lotus Hotel, Mombasa, when I was addressing the media on the issues to be addressed tomorrow at Tononoka grounds, should be condemned in the strongest terms," Jumwa tweeted.
