Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi has asked Kenyans to tolerate each others' different political regional, religious and tribal backgrounds.
Speaking on Wednesday after meeting with new members of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), the CS pointed out that "there is never going to be a time in this country that we will all sing one song".
Matiang'i also assured the NCIC officers of the government's full support as they embark on their duties following their appointment.
“We have to learn to tolerate each other there is never going to be a time in this country that we will all sing one song, face one direction and behave the same way, God created us differently and we should enjoys each other’s company and appreciate that we have different opinions and that should never be a course for incitement,” he stated as quoted by Capital FM.
NCIC Chairperson Reverend Samuel Kobia pledged to work without any fear or favour.
He said that he is ready to collaborate with other officials as well as the general public to bring back sanity in different dockets during his tenure.
Rev Kobia takes over from retired chairman Francis Ole Kaparo.
The new NCIC commissioners that have already taken an oath of office include Abdulaziz Ali Farah (former Mandera East MP), Philip Okundi (former Rangwe MP), Wambui Nyutu, Danvas Makori (former CEC Nairobi), Dorcas Kedogo (former Vihiga Woman Representative), Samuel Kona and Fatuma Tabwara.
