A 63-year-old man was on Wednesday sentenced to life imprisonment by a Nakuru court after he was found guilty of defiling an eleven-year-old minor.
Principal Magistrate Joe Omido in his judgment said the prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.
“The minor and one of the neighbors could clearly identify the accused in their testimony,” said Omido
Geoffrey Mwangi had been charged with defiling the minor on August 12, 2015.
The court heard that the accused who is a neighbor, and father of eight children, defiled the minor on various occasions and gave the minor sh20 to silence her.
According to one of the neighbor who testified in court, she saw the girl walking in pain, upon close scrutiny she saw blood and was hurt badly on her private parts before inquiring of the incident.
The court noted that the accused was like a father figure and the minor feared disclosing the same to anyone.
"It was clear that the accused was like a father figure to the minor and she was afraid to disclose the incident," said Omido.
