President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga may have difficult time taming their close allies, even as 2022 success politics take shape.

While the Handshake between the two has somehow managed to cool political temperatures, local politicians are struggling mend fences.

In an interview on Monday, ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire accused President Uhuru Kenyatta's pointsman Walter Nyambati of smearing his name using bloggers.

A furious Bosire said Nyambati had turned to online hate campaign, with the two expected to take each other in the race to succeed Governor John Nyagarama.

"He has totally lacked ideas on how to face serious campaigns. Resorting to online bullying is the sign of someone losing the battle even before it starts.

"I am ready to take him head-on. You cannot use boys to intimidate me by spreading fallacious information about my character," he said.

But Mr Nyambati, a former chairman of Jomo Kenyatta Foundation and the predecessor of Bosire in Kitutu Masaba, denied knowledge about the campaigns.

"I am not aware of that. I have never told anyone to talk about him. That's fallacious and perhaps a strong indication that he's fearing already," he said in a phone call.

Both come from the larger Kitutu clan and there are fears that they could split votes thus minimising their chances of succeeding Governor John Nyagarama.

Also in the race are Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, who is said to be enjoying support from Governor Nyagarama, Kiangoi Ombasa among others.
