Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has renewed contracts of four County Executive Members (CECs) after a long wait.
It had emerged last week that Joho had reached out to former CECs to resume their duties.
During the Friday announcement, the governor promised to name the rest within a short time.
"I have today in Pursuant to sections 30(2) and 35(1) of the County Government Act 2012, renewed contracts of the following members of the County Executive Committee.
1. Mariam Mbaruk - Finance and economic planning 2. Godfrey Nyongesa Nato - Environment, Waste Management and Energy.
3. Hazel Chemutai Koitaba - Health Services
4. Taufiq Balala - Water, Sanitation and Natural Resources.
The rest of the appointments will follow in due course," Joho posted on Facebook.
The term of former County Executive Committee members expired and a delay caused anxiety in the coastal county.
Last week, Mombasa County Assembly Clerk Salim Juma confirmed that they had not received any names of nominees from the county boss.
“The County Assembly has not received any nominees for CECs. We only have nominees for positions in the service board, which came during the recess. We hope to vet the nominees after the recess in February,” Juma said as quoted by Standard.
