The Division of Revenue Bill 2019 has crumbled operations at the counties, Council of Governors has said.
Hours after Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua urged National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale to recuse himself from the mediation talks, COG has now asked Parliament to end the standoff with immediate effect. The governors said that the disbursement of the funds to the counties is the only way to enable them to resume operations.“We urge parliament to resolve this matter urgently and allow restoration of normalcy and service delivery to Kenyans across the Country Cc. @GovWOparanya #COGPresser,” Council of Governors tweeted. The governors also appreciated the support they have received from different parties in their fight for more cash for salaries, development projects and other programmes."The COG appreciates the unwavering support made so far in trying to resolve the current stalemate facing Counties. However, at the moment, County workers are on a go slow due to lack of supplies and payment of salaries. This has distabilized services across Counties," tweeted COG.The also thanked the Attorney-General Paul Kihara for refusing to back the idea of disbursement of half of the amount, saying he understands the problems they are facing as far as service delivery is concerned.
