The construction of the Sh1.2 billion Kipkaren Water project that commenced in July is on course this is according to Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya.
Natembeya who led the Regional Development Implementation and coordination committee to inspect the project said the project is going on well and will be completed on the agreed time.
"Once complete the project will produce 24000 cubic meters of water translating to 24 million litres of water per day. Cases of water shortage in Uasin Gishu County will be a thing of the past,” said the Rift Valley Regional Commissioner.
He reiterated that the contractor is already on the ground and that the project has started and they expect by next year it will be complete.
Natembeya was speaking to the press in Kapseret on Friday. "20 million litres of water will be used by Uasin Gishu County while 4 million will be channelled to Nandi County,” Natembeya.
He reiterated that the water is projected to serve Uasin Gishu County for the next 20 years.
Natembeya, however, called on the contractor to complete the job on time for Kenyans to get value for their money failure to which his contract will be terminated noting that all government must be started and completed on time.
