Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru led other female leaders in spreading the handshake message in Mombasa County.
The politicians under Team Embrace held a rally at Tononoka Grounds on Saturday where they emphasised the importance of unity, cohesion and inclusion.
"Pwani Hoyeee! Spreading the handshake message of unity, cohesion and inclusion together with the host Governor H.E @HassanAliJoho and H.E Governor @mamangilu in #EmbraceatTononoka #EmbraceInMombasa," Waiguru tweeted.
While in Mombasa, the host governor Hassan Ali Joho encouraged the female politicians to continue supporting the handshake. He said he was ready to accompany them on their coastal tour as well as when they plan other countrywide rallies.
"I would like to welcome you to Mombasa. The journey that you have started is unstoppable. I would like to thank MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir. Despite his fitness commitment, he is a great politician and we will support you. We will walk with you everywhere. (Na mimi nataka niseme karibuni Mombasa. Safari hii mumeanza, safari hii haitasimama. Na nashukuru mheshimiwa Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir. Kijana mwepesi, mtu siku hizi anaishi gym. Akivaa fulana lazima avae limeshikana shikana namna hii ili atuonyeshe kifua lakini kwa siasa yuko sawa. Sivyo? We want to assure you f our support. Ikiwa ni Mombasa, jimbo la Pwani ama Kenya nzima, you want us to walk with you, we will walk with you my friends)," Joho said in a video shared on YouTube.
He also said he was proud to be the first male governor to attend the Team Embrace gatherings and affirmed his support to the group.
"A governor who is my friend reminded me that I will be the first male governor to attend Embrace meetings. I told him I love women. (Kuna governor mmoja rafiki wangu ameniuliza asubuhi, governor naskia unaenda Embrace? Akaniambia, you know you will be the first governor to attend their meetings. Nikamwambia I am that governor ambaye anapenda wanawake sana)," Joho added amid cheers.
