The governor of Kirinyaga county Anne Waiguru has weighed in on what she thinks will be President Uhuru Kenyatta's biggest legacy.
Speaking in an interview with controversial TV show host Tony Gachoka, Waiguru said leaving behind a more united country as envisaged in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report would be Uhuru's biggest legacy.
"In my opinion this would be his biggest legacy, to leave behind a more united country, a more cohesive country and having expanded our democratic space, that would be his biggest legacy," she said. (15:46-15:58)
The clock is first winding down on President Uhuru Kenyatta's second and final term, meaning the time for him to shape his legacy is fast running out.
In 2022, he will be handing over the reins of power to the next president as required by the law of the land.
His dramatic handshake with his former political adversary Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga was seen as part of his efforts at crafting a legacy of unity.
Fighting corruption is also viewed as a legacy that the head of state is keen on being remembered for.
High profile individuals, seen as untouchable, have been arrested and arraigned in courts of law with the president saying that those caught in corruption will have to bear their own cross.
