Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna came out to slam the ruling on Sergeant Dismas Gitenge who killed a Kenyatta University student in a hit and run.
In a tweet on Tuesday, the exiled lawyer slammed the ruling terming it as too lenient.
"Too lenient unjust and disgraceful. 22-year-old Maureen Wambui Gachagua was killed and dragged for 3 miles then dumped on the road by the unremorseful Dismas Gitenge MOTONGWA. She was 6-months pregnant. Motongwa should have been jailed for 65," he said.
On July 15, 2018, Dismas Motongwa caused the death of Maureen through careless driving on Mombasa road. He dragged her body for over two kilometres before dumping it in South C.
He reported the matter to Langata police station lying that he had hit a cow and refused to bring his car for inspection.
Milimani court Magistrate Elector Rianyi sentenced Mr Motongwa for three and a half years. Three years for causing the death of the varsity student and six months for giving false information to the police.
His driving licence was also revoked. However, his lawyer, Danstan Omari objected the sentence and insisted that they will at the High Court as Milimani court Magistrate Elector Rianyi didn't give an option of a fine to his client.
