Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici now wants Health to cease to be a devolved function and be taken back to the national government.
Speaking in Mwea on Monday to members of the press at a funds drive, the legislator said that the 47 counties across the country were struggling with health.
She express her distress at seeing the county governments struggle to bear the health burden.
"It's very disturbing to see more than 35 counties are struggling with health," Ngirici said.
The national government devolved health to the 47 counties.
Devolution of the previously national government function has seen health workers engaged in a very public tussle with the counties over issues to do with their pay.
Health workers working in counties are in the payroll of the counties apart from those in the referral facilities in various parts of the country.
They have complained about poor working conditions and meager remuneration.
The tussle between the national government and the county governments over allocation of funds which governors want increased.
Ngirici called on the 47 county bosses to accept that the health burden was too heavy for them and revert it to the national government.
Before the passing of the 2010 constitution that ushered in devolution, health was entirely in the purview of the national government.
