Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has vowed to take action against Mama Lucy Hospital nurses who allegedly left a woman to deliver on the floor of the hospital.
In a video he posted on his Facebook page, a woman can be seen delivering on the floor. Afterwards, nurses storm in to help.
After getting the video, Sonko made a call to Mama Lucy Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr Musa Mohamed questioning him of the incidence.
"Very disturbing video I even haven't slept at night. A woman says your nurses have left a mother to give birth on the floor, the nurses are very rude. Actually, I have watched the clips, your nurses answering patients badly. (Very disturbing video ata sijalala usiku. Anasema nurses wako wameacha mama akazaa kwa floor, the nurses are very rude. Actually, nimeona tu clips nurses wakijibu raia vibaya)," Sonko tells Dr Mohamed in the video shared.
He further asked the Medical Superintendent to take actions against nurses involved.
"What I am going to do ni ntafika pale asubuhi. I am going to call them personally cause yesterday nlikua pale labour ward usiku kwa ile gate nyingine nikatoka around saa nne. Let me form a committee and procedural what really happened and from there we make a decision," noted Dr Mohammed.
The video was first shared by a Facebook user identified as Rina Rina, who had taken her patient at the hospital for treatment. She met the woman at the facility and decided to help her and even recorded the incidence.
Contacted by the county boss, Rina confirmed that the incidence took place at Hospital on Sunday night.
The baby and the mother, according to Sonko, are safe.
