Sotik constituency in Bomet County has for the last three consecutive days had residents flocking the streets over the poor state of the roads.
The residents staged their protests along Chebole, Chebango-Kipketii road, which is reportedly the worst after it was rendered impassable two months ago.
Speaking on anonymity, an administrator revealed that police officers had been dispatched to help end the protests as they were illegal, because no permits had been obtained.
No demonstrators have been arrested over the issue so far. The demonstrators led by their leaders lamented how business people were forced to dig deep into their pockets, in order to secure other transport means to keep their businesses running.
"Residents have been unable to ferry farm produce including potatoes, milk and tea leaves to the market in due time due to the poor state of the road," one of the protest leaders Edwin Kirui told Nation.
The protesters lamented that despite them reporting the issue to Sotik MP Dominic Koskei, no measure has been put in place. The poor road has dealt a blow to business people especially during rains, as vehicles got stuck and farm produce go bad.
Passengers are also not spared as they can hardly travel. Residents told Nation that the last time the road got repaired was almost five years ago and yet leaders showed no concern about the current state of the road.
