Speaking on the inaugural edition of K24's 'Punchline' hosted by renowned television anchor Anne Kiguta, Ruto contended that the corruption allegations were part of 'convenient' narrative.

"They are engaged in the business of trying to run a narrative because they have other interests and that corruption narrative is a convenient narrative, " the deputy president contended.

He claimed that the narrative being pushed smacked of desperation because those levelling them were not in a position to substantiate the corruption allegations and because they could not find anything that could call into question his competence.

Veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has led his allies in calling the country's second-in-command irredeemably corrupt politicians, charges that Ruto has strongly rejected, calling on those with evidence of his alleged corrupt nature to take him to court.

The 'Kieleweke' team, which is strongly opposed to the DP's 2022 presidential aspirations, has also accused Ruto of corruption.

Ruto wondered why the allegations were not made against him when he supported Raila Odinga's presidential bid in the disputed 2007 general elections that the ODM leader lost.
