Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) national chairman John Mbadi has said Kenyans should expect a major alliance between ODM party and others ahead of 2022.
This comes amid ODM leader Raila Odinga's dalliance with some politicians initially considered his enemies, including some from the populous Mt Kenya region.
Raila has been seen to enjoy a good relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, with Mbadi saying the party is already planning ahead.
The Suba South MP told the Friday Standard that ODM is working with some members of Uhuru's Jubilee party, and at the same time making internal changes ahead of the polls.
“I can tell you that we have recruited new people to our team as part of our preparations. People like Senator Sam Ongeri, Amos Wako are part of our team. We also have people from Jubilee who are now working with us,” he said.
He noted that the ODM-Central Kenya alliance is already bearing fruits, hence the union in rejecting Ekuru Aukot's Punguza Mizigo referendum bill.
“That new working relationship was demonstrated in how county assemblies rejected the Punguza Mizigo Bill. You could see central and Nyanza leading in rejecting the bill. I can assure you that we will have a very formidable alliance," he added.
