Imenti North MP Rahim Dawood has dismissed a section of Mt Kenya leaders angling to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking at an interview in Meru on Friday, the legislator said that it is important to seek ways in which Uhuru can remain in power after 2022 since no one can match him.
He stated that that not even Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, his predecessor Mwangi Kiunjuri and Muran’ga Governor Mwangi wa Iria can fill this position.
“They cannot match Uhuru as the region’s kingpin so we must seek ways [to ensure] the President remains in an influential position in 2022,” he said during an interview in Meru.
He advised those eyeing the position to just support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and introduce the position of Prime Minister so that Uhuru can take the position in 2022.
“For now, the only thing we can do is to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and lobby for the position of Prime Minister so that Uhuru is appointed," said he.
