Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa is not yet off the hook following renewed war by Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement party which is now keen to kick her out.
Political Parties Dispute Tribunal gave her a lifeline recently when it ruled against ODM's process of kicking her out, a move which forced the party to go to drawing board.
The ODM MP is under pressure from her sponsor party over links to Deputy President William Ruto. She has often maintained that her actions are guided by the spirit of handshake.
But with conclusion of Parliamentary Service Commission Bill, the second term MP could be kicked out of the powerful PSC after the procedures were outlined.
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed said the party has initiated the process of her removal, arguing that the Bill has given proper procedures.
“It is very clear that Hon Aisha is not in line with the policies and aspirations of the party that nominated her to the PSC,” Mr Junet said.
Section 14 of the Political Parties Act provides that a member of a political party is deemed to have defected if that member advances the interests of a rival party other than the one that sponsored him or her.
“Now that the bill has outlined how to deal with her, we shall follow the due process,” the minority whip said.
After her aborted removal, Mr Odinga had asked Jumwa to apologise. However, she maintained that she has a right to associate with the DP.
