The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has warned Kenyans against purchasing electronic gadgets from dubious dealers.
In a series of tweets, DCI on Sunday said that Kenyans caught with stolen electronic gadgets will be arrested and charged in court regardless of how they acquired them.
DCI said that ignorance will not be used an excuse in the court of law in the event that an individuals is found in possession of stolen electronic gadget on his or her home at any point.
“The Public is hereby WARNED never to buy any Electronic Gadget including Laptops, Mobile Phones, TV Sets etc from an Individual or a Dealer who has no fixed Physical Address; Identifiable trading Building/ Premises with requisite authorization documents that are market. In case of any doubt that you may be harbouring any gadget of suspicious source, please and in Confidence report at any Police Station or DCI Office," read part of the statement.
The warning comes at a time when incidences of crime have become rampant in different parts of the nation.
Thieves have taken advantage of online platforms to sell stolen property.
