Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga now claims a retreat by allies of Deputy President William Ruto in Naivasha, was organised to plan impeachment of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
DP Ruto's allies, dubbed Tanga Tanga, were at the Lake Naivasha Resort on Sunday and Monday, for what they termed as a meeting to discuss the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
However, Wanga alleged that they were planning on how to oust the Head of State, warning them that their scheme was doomed to fail.
In a press conference on Tuesday, the ODM legislator said leaders who support the handshake between President Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, will thwart any attempts to dethrone the President.
"There is only BBI led by HE Uhuru Kenyatta and Rt Hon RailaOdinga; meanwhile any attempts to impeach the President as we understand were discussed yesterday (Monday) in Naivasha are dead on arrival," Wanga said.
The vocal MP was accompanied by her National Assembly colleagues; Junet Mohamed (Suna East), John Mbadi (Suba South), Anthony Aluoch (Mathare), Kanini Kega (Kieni) among others.
However, according to a statement released by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, the Naivasha retreat was organised to discuss various issues they believe should be included in the final BBI report.
"We have noted with great concern the manner in which the BBI popularisation rallies have been conducted so far. The discussions have mainly been on personalities and positions for the political class."
"This is in stark contrast to the original objective of the course. We are desirous of shifting the discussion back to the people and their issues," Murkomen posted on Facebook.
