Popular journalist Larry Madowo on Monday took to Facebook to announce that Friday was his last day at BBC Africa.
The former NTV news anchor will be taking a break from BBC Africa where he has been working as the Business Editor for Africa for the past one year. The 32-year-old journalist also cited some of his achievements at the British Media company including offering jobs to people in various countries.
"Friday was my last day at the BBC before taking a break to go to Columbia University in the City of New York. I offered someone a job then emailed everyone at BBC Africa without a subject, like an idiot 🤦🏿♂️ I promise I was better at the job itself; hired ~30 people in 5 countries, launched 6 shows in 3 languages & lived our best lives," Larry Madowo wrote on Facebook.
Madowo also took to Twittter where he admitted that it was hard leaving his 'dream job'.
"This has been a dream job in every way and leaving it was one of the hardest decisions of my life. An exciting year in New York City awaits but saying goodbye is so hard! I’ll miss everyone terribly," Larry Madowo wrote on Twitter.
Larry Madowo's one-year break from BBC Africa comes after he received a scholarship at the Columbia University in New York.
The Daystar University graduate who once worked for KTN, was among 10 journalists who were selected worldwide to join The Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Business and Economics at the Columbia Journalism School.
