According to Tuju, he will not be intimidated or cowed by the tribal politics within the party.

Tuju has been on the spot for siding with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

This is after the ruling party experienced a division where a section of the party members supported President Uhuru Kenyatta while others supported Deputy President William Ruto.

Party members allied to DP Ruto have criticized the Party Secretary-General and called for him to vacate the position.

Tuju has however welcomed anyone to challenge him for the position in the forthcoming elections.

“Anybody seeking to challenge me in the post is welcome. We will compete on ideologies and not by might or any other interests... I am Kenyan and deserve equal chance to vie,” Tuju stated.

Tuju pointed out that it is important for leaders to be elected based on their competence and not ethnic background.

“I’m not pointing fingers at someone or saying that you’re wrong if you use the word tribe. I just want people to be aware of tribal interests so that they can make an informed choice,” he added.

Tuju further advised Jubilee leaders to be open to various ideologies ahead of the Party elections.
