Writing on Facebook on Friday, Noor called on the government to make interventions to ensure that pastoralists communities participate in the once-in-a-decade exercise.

She revealed that leaders from the North-Eastern region had held a meeting in which they unanimously agreed a government intervention was necessary, warning that, unless the interventions are undertaken, the census could end in disappointment.

"All in attendance were unanimous that unless the national government puts in place interventions, this will negatively affect the exercise in areas inhabited by pastoral communities. Arising from these fears I wish to appeal to the government to start preparations early enough to avert disappointments in the last moments as that would be a very costly and regrettable experience, " her post partly read.

Among the interventions that the member of parliament wants to be undertaken is the provision of water and food to entice members of the pastoral communities to participate in the census.

While calling on leaders from the pastoral communities to sensitize the people on the importance of the census, the lawmaker appealed to her constituents to unite and cooperate to ensure that the exercise happens smoothly.
