Speaking during an interview on NTV’s Sidebar, the lawmaker said that there is no reason to castigate Ruto because of the donations he offers in Church.

He noted that the DP is just like any other Kenyans who want to give to the Lord.

He insists that donating money to the church doesn’t mean you are corrupt noting that it is not the duty of the church to investigate corruption in different government offices.

Mabonga observed that Ruto is a clean man and the attacks are politically instigated.

“When we go to church with the Deputy President, we are going to worship as believers and it is not restricted to give what you have. It is not the duty of the church to investigate corruption; we have government agencies to do that,” he said in part.

The remarks of the lawmaker come after ODM’s John Mbadi wrote to the National Assembly seeking to cap the donations at Sh100,000.

He said that some leaders have taken advantage of their positions to loot millions and then pretend to be good by taking donations to churches across the country.
