Deputy President William Samoei Ruto has said that he does not want Kenyans to fight each other because of him. Speaking at a meeting in Sugoi with Mt Kenya leaders on Thursday, the second in command said that he is serious about Kenyan people maintaining peace in whatever the situation.
Ruto argued that the only thing that matters is peace whether he wins or loses the elections come 2022.
Mimi sitaki Kenya igombane kwa sababu yangu (I do not want Kenya to fight because of me), hapana, nyinyi mnanielewa? that is how serious I am. I don't want this country again to go a route where people will lose lives because of any politician. no no. hapana. So I want to promise you, kupata kiti, kukosa kiti, kufanyike ile itafanyika we want peace in this nation," he said
Ruto also said that the Jubilee leadership is up in making sure that it is committed to its principles of Unity and transformation.
The Deputy President promises the citizens that there is nothing that will distract them from achieving their course.
"The Jubilee leadership remains committed to its founding principles of unity and transformation. Nothing will distract us from this course." He wrote
This comes with a big divide evident in the ruling party on those allied to DP Ruto publicly pushing his 2022 political ambitions as those allied to President Uhuru try to criticise them for politicking all through the term.
