This is after the world champion became the first person in history to run a full marathon under two hours during the INEOS 1:59 challenge in Vienna, Austria on Saturday.

In a tweet later in the day, Itumbi suggested that Kipchoge be awarded the highest award reserved for such persons.

"I am not limited. I pray that he gets the highest award reserved by country for its finest sons and daughters. I know he will get a little bit more. I refuse to be limited by your idea of what my wish should be or is. I refuse to be Limited," said Itumbi.

However, the opposition lawmaker differed with the suggestion, saying the best reward would be for the government to better the sporting industry in the country.

He stressed on payment for sportspeople and better stadiums in honour of the great runner, saying that awards can follow later.

"Stadiums, sustained support and payments to our sports people is what’s needed. Awards can come later," she responded.

Kipchoge finished the race after clocking an unprecedented time of 1:59:40.
