City lawyer Wahome Thuku has said he does not regret voting for President Uhuru Kenyatta twice in the 2017 polls.
Thuku admitted he voted for the Jubilee Party leader in the August 8 poll, and again in the repeat election held on October 26.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Thuku said the president had a desire to transform the country, saying he would not hesitate to vote for him again.
"Exactly two years ago today, I queued briefly at GPO (NSSF ground) in Nairobi for the second time to vote for Mr Uhuru Kenyatta. If called again today I would queue for the third time to elect Mr Kenyatta," he said.
"Of course I know the feeling particularly by social medialists about him but I would still elect him again. I'm one of those who believe that deeeeep inside him Mr Kenyatta has a desire to see Kenya grow. Perhaps that is why he fails, in his effort to look for the best for Kenya," he added.
In a thinly veiled attack on Deputy President William Ruto, the lawyer defended Uhuru against social media criticism, saying he was different from his deputy Ruto who he accused of using millions in fundraisers to woo voters.
"He is not like the man behind him who is feeding the fish with worms and the fish believe he loves them, little do they know one of the worms has a hook. I believe Mr Kenyatta's development projects shall be appreciated by generations to come and they shall be asking who was the brains behind them," Thuku said.
However, human rights activist Wainaina Ndung'u said Uhuru, who celebrated his 58 birthday on Saturday, was the reason behind Kenya's ailing economy.
"Conflicted President destroying economy," tweeted the executive director of the International Centre for Policy and Conflict.
