Kuria accused Murkomen of making inciting and hateful remarks against one community following cancellation of Kimwarer dam project by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a rejoinder, the vocal Senator termed Kuria's sentiments as 'insults' and reiterated that the technical committee that recommended annulment of the Sh22.2 billion project misled the Head of State.

He branded the committee which was chaired by Infrastructure Principal Secretary Paul Maringa as a 'funeral committee', purposely formed to sabotage the Kimwarer and Arror dams projects.

"Despite insults from Moses Kuria I remain adamant that the so called Technical Committee have failed President and people of Kenya and EMC (Elgeyo Marakwet County) on Arror and Kimwarer Dams. That wasn’t a committee of experts but funeral committee formed to kill the projects. Even the scaling down of Arror is a white lie," Murkomen tweeted on Thursday night.

The Majority Leader vowed to continue protesting cancellation of the project a move he said will only benefit the contractor, Italian firm CMC Di Ravenna.

"The only winner in the cancellation of Arror and Kimwarer dams is CMC Di Ravenna who will reap billions of money from breach of contract. I can’t watch the Head of State misadvised and keep quiet. Kenyans will remember me for this when the noise is over and the dust settles," he added.

In a press conference in Nairobi on Thursday, Kuria threatened to petition Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju for the removal of Murkomen, who he accused of making utterances which could lead to ethnic violence.

“I am just asking Senator Murkomen to quit as the Leader of Majority so that when he talks of his people, we can understand what he means with that. When he claims that his people are losing or being denied something we get confused because we cannot tell whether he meant the people of the community that he comes from, or any other Kenyan because he is the Leader of Majority in the Senate,” Kuria said.
