This comes amid an intensifying brawl between the senate and national assembly, with the lower house now calling for the disbandment of the Senate on grounds of overstepping its mandate.

Nyoro on Monday claimed that senators are not representatives of the people as is the case with the lower house, arguing that instead of their counties representatives.

"If you read the constitution, senators do not represent the people; it is the Member of the National Assembly who does it. Members of the Senate represent their counties and that is why they vote in delegations," said the MP.

He made the remarks during an interview on Citizen TV's Day Break show on Monday morning.

However, in response hours later, the former presidential aspirant termed the argument hopeless, especially coming from an elected leader, finding it misleading.

"What a useless and hopeless argument by a supposedly elected representative of the people! This is mediocrity of the highest order," he said.

At the same time, the Senate has threatened to seek redress of about 20 motions passed by the national assembly without its inclusion.
