Kibet found himself in trouble after attempting to jump over the State House fence. He was shot and injured by security guards.

Appearing before Magistrate Francis Andayi on Thursday, Bera was released so that his father can take him to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) for treatment.

Bera, who did not take a plea, will take it on August 7, 2019 when his medical report will be received from MTRH.

The 5th year Engineering student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Nairobi on Wednesday appeared in the public for the first time after being arrested.

He pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to forgive him, and also asked Kenyans to forgive him for trying to jump over the State House fence.

“ … If they take me to Mathare it will be a punishment…I request that you forgive me …I will be like people of the New Testament,” he said.

His father pleaded with the court to allow him take his son to the hospital.

“My request is for the court to allow me as his father to take him to hospital…it might take a long time for him to recover but detaining him in police custody will not help his condition,” said his father during a court session.
