Mutua has been involved in a supremacy tussle with the former Vice President, and now says that its time Kalonzo admitted that he is no longer needed in Ukambani.

He says that Kalonzo has failed to make his leadership felt in the many years he has been in politics, and has not been of any benefit to Ukambani people in any way.

According to Mutua, its time Musyoka realised that his time is up in the political scene.

"Mambo ya Kalonzo tulimalizana nayo kitambo (We are done with the Kalonzo issue) he is no longer our kingpin. He has had his time in politics, but our people need an electable leader," he said on Radio Maisha, Tuesday morning.

He also dismissed claims from some of Kalonzo's allies that he is undermining the veteran leader, terming that enough proof that Kalonzo has lost his influence in the region.

"When I hear people saying that we are undermining him, it means that he is no longer out kingpin. You cannot undermine a kingpin," added the Maendeleo Chapchap party boss.

About his 2022 presidential ambitions, he claimed that he is better placed to represent the Lower Eastern region in the race, claiming that he is more electable than Musyoka.

According to Mutua, while Kalonzo would win the Kamba vote basing on the tribal voting system in Kenya, he cannot convince other parts of Kenya to rally behind his bid.

"The only person from Ukambani who can get votes from across the nation is Alfred Mutua," he stated.
