Speaking on Wednesday, Weda cited Ruto's group of allies, whom he observed is dominated by youthful lawmakers, a strategy he said will serve the DP for the next many years.

He observed that the DP has been deliberately going for youthful politicians who can both serve him for long and at the same time help when it comes to forceful political moves.

"The DP is tactical, look at most of his supporters, most are young people who can run with him for the next 30 years," he said on KBC English Service, on Wednesday morning.

He added that similarly, the DP needs people he can use for slightly dirty politics in favour of his 2022 presidential ambition and is not much interested in the experience.

"For him, it is not people with experience but those who can make noise ahead of 2022, those who can run around and grab microphones from people and leave them silent," he added.

The analyst suggested that the plan seems to have been in place for a long time, observing that the DP might have picked most of them, the majority of whom are first-timers, with an intention.

"He chose young people who didn't have money and anything, who are grateful to him," he added.

A section of the lawmakers, drawn from the Mt Kenya region, appears to be severing their links with President Uhuru Kenyatta and moving towards the DP.
