An undercover source was charged with the dangerous responsibility of obtaining al-Baghdadi's underwear and delivering it to intelligence authorities.

The spy was planted by the Kurds on the ISIL leader's inner circle

Details of how the undergarment was procured were provided by Polat Kan, who works for the Kurdish-led SDF militia as a senior consultant, on Twitter.

“Since 15 May, we have been working together with the CIA to track Al Baghdadi and monitor him closely,” Polat Can said.

"Our own source, who had been able to reach al-Baghdadi, brought al-Baghdadi's underwear to conduct a DNA test and make sure [100 percent] that the person in question was al-Baghdadi himself," Polat Can added.

The spy delivered the underwear to the United States of America forces in a bid to prove that he had unfettered access to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's inner circle.

According to the New York Post, the source also provided a sample of the Islamic State leader's blood, leaving no doubt that he had indeed infiltrated Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's inner circle.
