Nyanza Regional Police Commander Vincent Makokha has promised the Lakeside city residents of a high standard of security.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Tuesday Makokha said enough police officers have been deployed to ensure law and order is observed during this festive season in Kisumu and across the Nyanza region.
“This festive season police in Nyanza we have prepared very well and put enough patrol in place. We have encouraged the public to share any information they have pertaining insecurity so that we can respond,” said the police boss.
“We will reduce a lot of office work and be out there to ensure the public is safe both day and night so that they can enjoy their celebrations,” he added.
The Nyanza Regional boss said those who own pubs, as well as business operators along the beaches, will be offered security adding that clubs will have to stick to the laws of the land indicating opening and closing hours.
“In clubs, we will still follow the rules you open at 4 pm you close at 11 pm. We will patrol in all areas including beaches where we will give everyone security,” he said.
Makokha also urged matatu operators to avoid speeding, driving while drunk and overloading, saying alco-blow and enough traffic police officers have been deployed to man all roads in the region.
