A Nairobi-bound bus of Dreamline Sacco overturned on the dawn of Saturday, January 25 in Ngokomi area near Sultan Hamud town. The accident claimed the lives of two people, a man and a baby.

Police Commander Joseph ole Naipeiyan of Makueni county confirmed the accident saying that the driver of the bus lost control and the car drifted off the road before overturning.

"The driver lost control of the bus, it veered off the road before falling on one side, killing a 25-year-old man and a one-year-old baby," said Naipeiyan as quoted. 

He further stated that there were 8 survivors with no injuries, 14 with minor injuries and 4 in critical condition. The injured were taken to Kilome hospital. 

"Four people have sustained serious injuries, 14 with minor injuries while eight others escaped unhurt," he added.

The bodies of the deceased has since been taken to a nearby mortuary and the bus trawled to Sultan Hamud police station pending further investigations.

This accident comes after the National Transpory and Safety Authority (NTSA) reported that the number of accidents and accidents casualties had reduced significantly this year compared to the past years where the road accidents related deaths were relatively high.​
