Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga has weighed in on the controversy triggered by an order issued by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga for the dredging work at the Likoni Channel to stop.

Justifying the order, Odinga said the dredging at the channel was interfering with the recovery efforts underway to retrieve the bodies of Mariam Kighenda and her daughter Amanda Mutheu who sunk at the channel.

Speaking on Tuesday during a wide-ranging panel discussion aired on Citizen TV, the outspoken ODM legislator said the order was justified.

"Well, I think that order was on point,"she said.

Wanga used the justification that her party leader had based his order on, saying the dredging was contributing to the poor visibility in the channel.

A number of Jubilee party leaders unloaded on the former prime minister, accusing him of usurping the powers of the president to issue orders to government workers.

Efforts to recover the bodies of the victims of the Likoni freak accident have not yielded fruits.
