ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga’s game plan before 2022 remains unclear, as many resorts to speculations on his moves.
Political commentator Charles Nyambuga of Maseno University has however said that he is a risk-taker and he will still contest for the nation’s top seat when that time comes.
Nyambuga argued that the opposition leader has proven repeatedly that his greatest desire is ascending to power, adding that this has not changed at all. He said that the opposition leader has decided to work with allies as well as foes because he knows his main aim.
“He is a critical risk-taker. I see him taking another risk this time round. All these alliances are for purposes of a ploy to grab power. This cannot be different from the other attempts,” he said on Friday.
Nyambuga alluded that Raila is not ready to endorse any other candidate for the nation’s top seat. He cited the past case where Raila was not willing to support Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi as they sought to contest for the Presidency.
The opposition leader has, however, not made it clear whether he will contest or not. In the past, he has hinted at not going for the seat amid speculations of the same.
“He is not kingmaker. He is the king. He doesn’t know any king. What he has done to Kalonzo and Musalia is proof,” the don added.
