Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has told Kenyans not to bank on the current division between Mt Kenya region, saying that things will soon be different.
The region's leadership currently appears divided between the Tangatanga and Kieleweke factions, which has been seen to be a great danger to the region voting together in 2022.
Mwaura says that the region will shock Kenyans in 2022, saying that all the current hard stands will slowly fade enabling the region to once again vote as a block.
According to the Senator, now that the region is leading in numbers as per the 2019 census results, it will also play a major role in the 2022 polls and must be in government.
"We are currently appearing divided but we will ultimately come together. Kenyans will be surprised. We must also be in the next government (Sasa tunaonekana tumegawanyika lakini mwishowe tutakuja pamoja, na wakenya watashangaa sana. Na tutakuwa kwa serikali itakayokuja)," he said .
The vocal senator made the remarks on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha on Tuesday morning, hosted by Billy Miya.
However, he said that the remarks should not be mistaken as the pride that the region must be included in government and not just using its numbers to manipulate the nation.
According to him, it's about interest and the need to enjoy the privileges that come with being in government, adding that it will not be wrong for Mt Kenya fraternity to use its muscles to out itself in a comfortable position.
"We are not being proud. Just like everyone want to be in government, we too want that (Sisi hatupigi kifua, ni vile kila mtu anataka kuwa serikalini, pia sisi tunataka)," he added.
The Kieleweke and Tangatanga factions are allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, at a time when the DP has been on an apparent mission to win a section of the region, largely considered to be Uhuru's bedrock.
